Marc Gravely Selected as Advisor to State Bar of Texas Insurance Law Section

The State Bar of Texas Board of Directors has selected Founder and Managing Partner Marc Gravely to serve as Advisor to the organization’s Insurance Law Section.

Marc was appointed to the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors in 2019 by Past President Joe K. Longley. With more than 100,000 members, the State Bar of Texas is one of the largest state bar associations in the U.S. The organization’s mission includes supporting the administration of the legal system, fostering high standards of ethical conduct for lawyers, and assuring equal access to justice. Marc will serve on the board until 2021.

The Insurance Law Section is an official, sanctioned section of the State Bar of Texas consisting of approximately 2,200 members. The Section is responsible for planning Continuing Legal Education (CLE) events for insurance law attorneys and publishing the Journal of Texas Insurance Law, among other initiatives. Marc will serve as Advisor to the 14-member board council.

“As a longtime member of the Texas insurance law community, I am proud to have been selected for this leadership position,” said Marc. “I’m looking forward to working with the council and officers to further the Insurance Law Section’s mission.”

In addition to his JD from St. Mary’s University, Marc holds an LLM in insurance law from the University of Connecticut. He is the founder and managing partner of Gravely P.C., a law firm that represents and protects the rights of property owners in insurance coverage disputes.

A noted speaker, Marc has been invited to share his insurance law expertise at numerous Continuing Legal Education (CLE) events. He is also a contributing editor to the Texas Annotated Insurance Code and a contributing author to the Texas Insurance Digest.

In addition to his new role with the Insurance Law Section, Marc has been named Advisor to the State Bar of Texas Construction Law Section.
